Frequently Asked Questions
IPL uses intense wavelengths of light to heat the surface of the skin just enough to stimulate collagen production. It is not as strong of a treatment as the laser, meaning the pulses of the IPL are less painful and leave you with almost no downtime. Laser treatment is more of a “true” resurfacing of your skin, while the IPL is like a “photofacial” but, similar results can be seen!
Most patients will see visible results after their first treatment, but it is recommended 3-6 IPL treatments about 4 weeks apart to obtain maximum results you are looking for.
IPL results are typically enjoyed for years with proper sun protection and skin care. Some patients will do a single treatment once a year or even every couple years!
It is very important that before coming in for your IPL treatment you have NO sun exposure to the area that is being treated for 2 weeks before your appointment. It is recommended to stop any retinol products as well.
Our providers and knowledgeable staff will provide you with more details on pre- and post-care instructions leading up to your IPL treatment to make sure you get the best results!
