Frequently Asked Questions
An active ingredient in Botox and Dysport target specific muscles when injected by blocking the nerve signals resulting in muscle relaxation and reduction of wrinkle appearance.
There are typically no side effects after getting Botox, sometimes light bruising may occur. Majority of people will not see the Botox take effect until a full 2 weeks after injection. It is also recommended to not do any extraneous exercise for 24 hours after getting injected so your body will not try to work off the Botox.
Botox can be injected above the top lip and below the bottom lip to give the effect of fuller lips without using filler! It relaxes the muscle to slightly “flip” your lip upward giving a fuller effect. It is a less expensive option than filler because it requires very few units of Botox.
Each area of the face requires a different number of units to result in relaxed muscles and wrinkle reduction. Every patient differs by muscle strength and wrinkles that they have. It also varies depending on if you have had Botox in the past. It is best determined through a free consultation at our office for an accurate estimate of the number of units you will need.
Botox and Filler are commonly confused. The easiest way to distinguish between the two is; Botox limits muscle movement, and Filler is for building volume.
Botox will reduce the movement of muscles that cause facial wrinkles. Filler will fill in and replace volume loss in areas of the face with a gel made up of hyaluronic acid to help plump and lift the skin.
Filler is not permanent, it is temporary because it will eventually be reabsorbed by the body. Filler will typically last 6 – 12 months, but certain types of filler may produce longer effects depending on the area that is injected.
Each filler product is mixed with lidocaine, so the injections involve minimal discomfort. We also offer topical lidocaine to provide more comfort.

Filler is a simple, nonsurgical procedure. Immediately after being injected you will notice mild swelling that will go down in a couple days. Some patients will experience light bruising at the injection site immediately after, as well as some bruising that can develop over the next couple of days.
